by health and nutrition advice journalist

In some cases, it can be an inconvenience but for the most part, those technology changes have improved our lives in some way or another. They may help us to communicate more easily or perhaps to monitor our children to keep them safe. In the case of this particular medical change, however, it is helping individuals with diabetes to live a life that is much more convenient. It happened in Boston at MIT when scientists […]

‘I advise everyone to get it’: UK Covid patients tell of regrets over refusing jab | Coronavirus | The Guardian

by health and nutrition advice journalist
For some people, the moment the ambulance arrives is the time they start expressing regrets about not receiving a coronavirus vaccine. For others, it’s the death of a loved one. Healthcare workers and Covid patients have spoken out about growing numbers who, once faced with the serious reality of catching the virus, realise that they made a huge mistake. Dr Samantha Batt-Rawden, a senior intensive care registrar, said she had only come across one patient in critical care who had received both vaccination doses, and that the “vast majority” of people she was seeing were “completely unvaccinated”. According to official […]

What You Didn’t Know About Functional Medicine Could Save Your Like

by health and nutrition advice journalist
Our current health care system is, to a large extent, governed by profit-driven conglomerates that essentially force physicians to manage huge caseloads and keep people moving through the system as quickly as possible. It’s mass-produced, assembly line, quick-fix, put-a-band-aid-on-it medicine, with little hope of creating long-term health. However, rather than simply believing anything a conventional doctor tells them, the modern healthcare consumers are becoming more informed and taking more control of their healthcare. Because of this, more and more people are seeking out functional medicine. So, why is functional medicine so awesome? There are major holes in modern medicine in […]

by health and nutrition advice journalist
A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows a nearly 30% increase in type 1 diabetes (T1D) diagnoses in the United States in just two years, with youth cases growing most sharply among minority groups. This underscores the urgent need to accelerate the work of JDRF to find cures for T1D and continue its passionate work to improve the lives of those living with the disease today. “JDRF is leading the fight through funding innovative research and advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies,” said Aaron J. Kowalski, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive […]

The Most Influential Spreader of Coronavirus Misinformation Online – The New York Times

by health and nutrition advice journalist
Over the last decade, Dr. Mercola has built a vast operation to push natural health cures, disseminate anti-vaccination content and profit from all of it, said researchers who have studied his network. In 2017, he filed an affidavit claiming his net worth was “in excess of $100 million.” And rather than directly stating online that vaccines don’t work, Dr. Mercola’s posts often ask pointed questions about their safety and discuss studies that other doctors have refuted. Facebook and Twitter have allowed some of his posts to remain up with caution labels, and the companies have struggled to create rules to […]

Michigan county officials used federal coronavirus relief money for bonuses

by health and nutrition advice journalist
CORUNNA, Mich. (AP) — Elected officials in a Michigan county gave themselves $65,000 in bonuses with federal relief money related to the coronavirus pandemic. The money, described as “hazard pay,” included $25,000 for Jeremy Root, chairman of the Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners. The mostly rural county, between Lansing and Flint, has a population of 68,000. Commissioners — all Republicans — last week voted to award money to county employees. It ranged from $25,000 for administrators to $2,000 for cleaning staff. All workers got at least $1,000. Commissioners are paid $10,000 a year for their part-time job, plus a stipend […]
